Dr.Winnie
Growing up, I did not always know that I wanted to be a dentist, but I was always interested in practicing medicine. When I tore my ACL, meniscus, and MCL two days after high school graduation, I learned (rather painfully) that I did not want to be an orthopedic surgeon! On the other hand, I always enjoyed visiting my dentist, even after two major dental surgeries, nine pulled teeth, and four years of sporting braces. After all that, I still loved my semi-annual visit with my dentist, and I knew that dentistry was the profession for me!
I am very passionate about dentistry and developing personal relationships with every patient. I provide my personal cell phone number to all my patients so that I can be reached after hours for emergencies or consultations. I love talking teeth! My focus is to provide the best dental care to improve my patients’ overall health and aid them in reaching their dental goals. From fillings, to crowns, extractions, implants and aesthetic cases, I am with my patients every step of their dental journey. I know dentistry can be scary and complicated for some, but I am here to make sure your dental care is comfortable and enjoyable.
I grew up in Pittsburgh and am a proud graduate of Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and minors in psychology and music. You may ask, “What are you doing all the way in Cleveland, Dr. Winnie?” I continued my passion for dentistry at Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine and graduated in 2016. Wanting even more advanced comprehensive rehabilitations and oral surgery experience, I completed a General Practice Residency at Loyola Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. While in Chicago, I met my husband Jeff Schroeder and brought him back with me to The Land that I love. We were married in Cleveland on June 26, 2021, and are now expecting our first baby boy in February, 2023.
Organized dentistry has become very important to me since I began practicing. With the profession ever changing, I wanted to be an integral part of supporting the advancement of health of the public and providing access to care. I am the newly elected Secretary/Treasurer of the Greater Cleveland Dental Society, and will become president of the GCDS in 2024. I am also the membership chair, as well as head of the New Dentists Committee, where I help younger dentists find success and participate in Continuing Education. I am an active member of Give Kids a Smile, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, and the Board of Trustees. I am advocating for our profession by being an Ohio Dental Association delegate and will represent the ODA on the national level by being an ADA alternate delegate in the upcoming 2022 conference in Houston, Texas.
Outside of the dental association, I am a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and am currently working towards my fellowship by committing to going above and beyond in oral care through copious amounts of continuing education. I am also on the Alumni Board of Directors for Case Western Reserve University. I enjoy giving back to the community by participating in and sponsoring Team Smiles, Medworks, Open M, and Cleveland roots. In my free time, I play volleyball, enjoy hiking, and am an avid mushroom forager. When I am not out for an adventure in the Metroparks, I enjoy trying new restaurants and traveling.
When I met Dr. David five years ago at a continuing education course in Richfield, I knew I had found a mentor for life. With a very likeminded philosophy on patient care and treatment, Dr. David and I instantly bonded. We found that we both want to serve health-orientated people who value their dental needs. We kept in touch for years while I was practicing in Cleveland, and it seemed that our conversations about dentistry would always turn to the possibility of me moving down south to the Falls to join his practice. I am thrilled to now be a part of Barsan, Stefan & Wong Family Dental! All the qualities that I admire in Dr. David including his empathy, hard-working and caring nature, and strong values are things that I hope to emulate moving forward in our practice and are what make Barsan, Stefan and Wong a special place. Newly awarded in the Akron Life magazine as one of the best dentists of 2022, I look forward to meeting you and providing exceptional dental care with an empathetic touch.
